About Evolution
An integrated contractor for the systems
that buildings actually need.
Our story
We started Evolution because the model was broken.
Twenty years of running security, networks, comms and AV trades on the same projects taught us something simple: every site we worked on had four sets of contractors trying to build one system. The duplication was extraordinary. The misalignment was worse.
Evolution was set up to do it properly. One team, one design authority, one accountability path. No finger-pointing between trades when the building doesn't behave the way it's supposed to.
Today we operate from Melbourne and deliver work across Australia for professional services firms, healthcare operators, retail brands, hospitality groups and critical infrastructure clients. We're an unusual size — small enough that the founder is on every project, large enough to deliver a hospital fit-out or a national CCTV migration with our own crews.
Operating principles
Four ideas that actually shape the work.
Self-perform the core.
Engineering, programming, network commissioning and security commissioning are done by Evolution staff — not flicked to a sub. It's the only way to hold a quality bar.
Design before build.
Every project starts with a coordinated design across all four disciplines. We don't draw it in the field. The design is the contract.
Own the lifecycle.
We don't disappear at handover. The same team that designed the system is the one you call when something needs adjusting two years in.
Be in the room.
On every project, a senior Evolution engineer is in the design coordination meetings. Not a delegate. Not a slide. The actual decision-maker.
Method
How an Evolution project actually unfolds.
Discover
We spend time on site. We meet your operators. We map how the building has to actually function — not the brief on paper, the reality once people walk in.
Design
One coordinated design across security, networks, communications and AV. No siloed trades drawing past each other. Reviewed, costed, defendable.
Deliver
Our own field crews, our own programmers, our own commissioning team. Built to a specification — not improvised on site.
Support
When something does go wrong at 2am, you call one number. We hold the lifecycle plan, the operation strategy, and the institutional memory.
Frequently asked
Things people ask before they engage us.
It means a single design authority, a single project lead, and a single ongoing point of accountability across security, networks, communications and AV — instead of four separate trades trying to coordinate at the cable tray. The systems are designed together from day one to share infrastructure, share data, and behave consistently for the people who operate the building.
We self-perform our core trades — design, programming, network commissioning, AV integration and security commissioning — and we directly supervise the cabling and labour we engage. Where we partner externally, the partners are long-standing and the warranty path runs through us, not them.
Often, yes. We're frequently brought onto projects that have lost coordination between sub-contractors. We can pick up incomplete designs, re-baseline the program and bring the build back in line — we've done it on hospitals, workplace fit-outs and hospitality rollouts.
Every system we install is offered with a managed lifecycle plan — preventative maintenance, monitored uptime, agreed response times and a documented operation strategy. You shouldn't have to remember which vendor installed which switch.
We're headquartered in Melbourne and routinely deliver work across Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. For multi-site rollouts we deploy nationally.
